Construction Commences on First Iowa Cambria

The BRP designed Cambria Hotel in Bettendorf is under construction! The 112-room hotel is scheduled to open in 2019 and will be the first Cambria in Iowa.

“The Quad Cities represent an important gateway for the region and attracts a growing number of visitors annually. The hotel offers leisure and business travelers all of the upscale amenities that allow them to treat themselves on the road,” says Janis Cannon, senior vice president, upscale brands, Choice Hotels.

Amenities include contemporary guest rooms, spa-style bathrooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center as well as an indoor pool. Guests can enjoy on-site dining comprised of a menu serving local specialties, liquor, wine and craft beer. The hotel also features an open lobby space to work, socialize and hang out, as well as a multi-function meeting space.

The hotel is part of a property which includes the 75-acre TBK Bank Sports Complex and High Five family entertainment center. Because of this, families were a design priority. “There are more bathtubs than typical for a Cambria Hotel for families with young children,” explains Gerri Kielhofner, BRP Architect & Partner. “An outdoor courtyard was also enlarged to allow teams to gather outside, weather permitting.” The courtyard can double as a pre-convene or party space for the meeting rooms too.

The dining area also has increased seating. “Since the hotel is part of the sports complex, it has to be able to seat, for example, multiple basketball teams before their tournament,” explains Jacob Nentrup, BRP Intern Architect.

“We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Choice Hotels to help bring our project in the TBK Bank Sports Complex area to fruition and offer guests an unparalleled upscale and local experience while visiting Bettendorf,” says Dan Huber, CEO of Frontier Hospitality Group.
