Downtown Springfield CID Building Renovation

December

The City of Springfield CID hired BRP Architects to convert a historic downtown building on Chestnut Expressway and Boonville Avenue (the original Harley-Davidson dealership of the Ozarks) into offices and warehouse for CID operations. In addition, the CID envisioned taking advantage of the building’s prominent location within the city to mark the location of center city. The renovations included restoring the building’s shell as well as the necessary interior improvements to accommodate the program. Every effort was made to avoid modifying the existing structure to minimize the construction costs for this not-for-profit organization. In a bold move, large graphics and lighting were applied to the exterior façade to serve as a way finding marker to guide visitors to Springfield’s downtown. With little cost, the building now serves as both signage and as a “trail head” from a major east-to-west vehicular corridor to the heart of Springfield.
